About Packet Pushers
Packet Pushers is a community of IT practitioners & vendors who write, podcast, and help each other as industry professionals. The community is built around our free podcast network and our Ignition subscription site (which is the site you’re on right now). Packet Pushers covers networking as well as data center design, virtualization, cloud computing, and general technology trends.
Our goal is to make technical content focused, practical, and deep, while at the same time having a bit of fun.
Packet Pushers is a full-time business supported by sponsorships from IT vendors and individual subscriptions from members of the Ignition site. All sponsored content is clearly marked and still technical. We have vendors bring on technical folks and engineers to discuss their products at a meaningful level. We insist that our vendors offer value to our audience even while performing acts of marketing.
Who Are The Packet Pushers?
- Greg Ferro & Ethan Banks are the co-founders of Packet Pushers. They grew up in data centers, as CCIEs with 20+ years of experience each in production IT environments. They are the primary hosts of the Packet Pushers podcasts, well-known writers, and public speakers.
- Robin Young is the Project Manager. She handles Packet Pushers logistics, graphic design, scheduling, marketing materials, and assists with business development.
- Drew Conry-Murray is the Content Director. Drew writes, hosts the Network Break podcast, manages community bloggers and Ignition authors, edits copy, manages our team briefings, posts most of the shows, and helps plan content.
- Chris Wahl is the co-host of the Datanauts podcast. Chris is a double VCDX, published author, PowerShell MVP, and Chief Technologist at Rubrik.
- Ricki Cook is one of our audio editors. Ricki is both a networking professional and world-class audio engineer with real-world experience for the Olympics and some of the biggest music acts in the world. He mixes and edits many of our shows, and is our trusted audio advisor.
- Jen Wahl is a sterling audio editor, mixing and editing the Datanauts show along with Priority Queue and other episodes. She keeps saying something about dead cats. (We really have to figure that out.)
Why Do You Have Two Sites?
Packetpushers.net is the original Packet Pushers site that Greg and Ethan set up when they first started this crazy venture. Today, Packetpushers.net hosts all our free podcasts and blogs available to anyone without a membership or subscription.
Ignition sits behind a membership wall, offering exclusive content not available on Packetpushers.net.
We created Ignition because it gives a new revenue stream separate from sponsored content. We appreciate our sponsors, but we also want the opportunity to write and produce even more material that we can offer direct to subscribers without any sponsor expectations attached to it. Ignition allows us to do just that.
