Thanks for signing up to our new site, Packet Pushers Ignition. This is an idea that’s been percolating for several years among the Packet Pushers brain trust.
If you’re wondering exactly what it is you’ve signed up for, here are some answers to a few questions you might have.
What Is Packet Pushers Ignition?
It’s a professional development site for network engineers and IT pros. It has (or will have) courses, videos, podcasts, white papers, and other content designed to help you advance your IT career.
How Is It Different From Packetpushers.net?
All the podcasts and blogs on Packetpushers.net are free and open to everyone without any kind of subscription or membership wall. And it’s going to stay that way, with our regular mix of independent and sponsored podcasts.
On Ignition, all the content is behind a subscriber wall, which includes free and paid tiers. All the content on the paid tier will be entirely independent of vendor sponsorship.
Why Put Up A Subscription Wall?
Because we’re experimenting with a new business model that doesn’t rely solely on sponsors. By going directly to subscribers, we can create independent material, such as courses and how-to videos, that we think will be relevant and helpful to our audience without having to find sponsors or manage sponsor expectations.
We also want to be able to pay industry experts to develop content for subscribers, and paid memberships will defray those costs.
Last but not least, by having a second revenue stream, we can continue to invest in Packet Pushers and grow the business.
Are There Course Materials For Industry Certifications? Will There Be?
While certifications are certainly one aspect of professional development, they aren’t the only one, and there are already a million other places you can go to for certification training and coursework.
So What’s In Here?
We plan a variety of content. Think of things like a course on network design principles, or a how-to guide on packet capture and analysis, or an introduction to automation for networking.
And because we always have an eye to the future, we’ll continue to focus on emerging technologies, industry developments, and new ideas in networking and IT.
We’ll also include member-only podcasts, white papers, and digital downloads, some created by the Packet Pushers team and some by experts in their fields.
Are You Selling Or Sharing My Information?
No. We don’t sell or share your membership details with anyone outside of Packet Pushers except as necessary for processing credit card transactions. We don’t sell or rent your email or address to vendors or anyone else.
